       How to take care the Foley and urine bags

Foley is an equipment use to discharge waste material when the patient cannot discharge his waste naturally. Your proper care and attention can keep his urinary

Tract smooth and can minimize the infection in part of patient.

1. Things Needed: Urine container, cotton sticks, waste container, towel, cotton buds beta- iodine, sterilizer.
2. Things Needed: Soap, towel , water tub.

※   Procedure—

○Method 1:

1. Place the towel and basin under the pelvic area.

2.Held the kettle in one hand, pour the water gendly above the pelvic area, at the same time rub the pelvic area with cotton plugs from up to down.

1. Use a cotton bud with beta-iodine, sterilizer the area and from inside to outside.
2. Re-fix the urine catheter.

○Method 2:

1. Place a bed sheet under his buttocks.
2. wet the sex organ, put some soap and wash it.
3. Use wet towel to wipe off the soap.

※Important Reminder:

1. Do it 1-2 times daily.
2. Urinary pipe must be pressed at least once a day to prevent from being fold or pressed.
3. The position of urinary pipe should be lower than the bladder ( but don’t put it on the ground). Urine should be disposed at least 3 times a day, and make a record of the urine volume.
4. Give patient 2500-3000㏄ of water daily.
5. If he has a fever, volume of urine less than 500㏄ a day, bloody, urine penetration, or the urinary pipe was pull out, contact immediately the homecare

nurse or doctors.
